New Year, New Roll

Stop And Smell The Flowers (First Day of Spring in Melbourne), 2019. Fuji color X-Tra 200 (Expired)

Hello everyone! First of all, Happy (belated) New Year! I know it has been far too long since I blogged. Christmas period has been the busiest month for me because of the crazy sales at work. Here’s a short summary of my last week of 2020 and first month of 2021.

  • Juggling between community project and work constantly.
  • Fall ill on the morning of New Year’s Eve. Had COVID-19 swab test and anxiously waiting for results.
  • Spent the rest of my day at home, sick and self-isolated from family members.
  • 2 days later, I received my COVID-19 swab test results – NEGATIVE! (Praise be to Allah!)
  • Took the remaining of my sick leave to rest and set up my bullet & gratitude journals for 2021.
  • My 20-year old cat, Ciko has passed on. :’(
  • Learning new dessert recipes for new baking business.

Goals for 2021

While I was self-isolating, I put my thoughts towards what I want to achieve this year. However, this time I take into consideration my current financial status in this bad economy. So some of my goals are a continuation from last year’s and I had learnt to accept that these goals are for the long-term and unrealistically attainable within a short period of time. I’m sharing with you my goals for 2021:

  • Be a green photographer/artist
  • Open an arts & crafts business
  • Obtain A1/A2 German Language certificate

Be A Green Photographer/Artist

As a photographer/artist who does analog and alternative processes, I deal with chemistry in my art-making. That waste chemistry might have an impact in the environment – I feel guilty for my actions. Right now, I am interesting in exploring more sustainable practices in photography yet at the same time, conserving the historic photographic processes for future generations. More mindful art practice 🙂

Open an arts & crafts business

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.

– Steve Jobs

I have found my Ikigai or ‘purpose in life’ and I am in the midst of opening my own art & crafts business. So just watch this space!

Obtain A1/A2 German Language certificate

One of my lifelong goals is to never stop studying, so it happens to be picking up languages and art. I aim to reduce my dependency on subtitles while watching foreign films & TV series on Netflix.

So that’s about my goals for this year. What about you? Share with me your goals in the comments below.
